Brandon Williams Leads Mens Basketball Comeback

Golden Eagles scored a 53-48 win over Fredonia

Senior Brandon Williams (Rochester, NY/East) scored 11 of his team-leading 20 points in the final five minutes of the contest to lead The College at Brockport Mens Basketball team to a 53-48 victory over SUNY Fredonia Tuesday night in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game in Fredonia.

Brockport (9-4 overall, 5-1 SUNYAC) trailed by a single point at 22-21 at the end of a low-scoring first half as the Golden Eagles connected on less than 30 percent of their shots from the field.

Fredonia (6-7, 4-2) scored the first six points of the second half to increase its lead to seven points and held that lead for a span of eight minutes before Brockport started its comeback.

Williams connected on a pair of jumpers and sophomore Gerald Williams (Rochester, NY/Charlotte) added a layup and a three-pointer to tie the game at 37-37 with 8:30 remaining.

Brandon Williams scored on a free throw and a three-pointer to push the Brockport lead to four points at 41-37 with 6:48 to play. After the score was tied at 44-44 at the 4:32 mark, Brandon Williams converted a three-point play with a layup and a free throw to give Brockport the lead for good.

The senior scored the next four points to maintain the lead and Gerald Williams calmly hit two free throws in the closing seconds to seal the victory.

Brandon Williams led Brockport with 20 points, six rebounds and four assists while Gerald Williams finished with 15 points with three three-pointers.
