Seniors Zack Lander (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) and Brendan Swayne (Seaford, NY/Plainedge) as well as junior Brett Sanders (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) were each named to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Baseball Second-Team after their stellar performance helping The College at Brockport Baseball team reach 20 wins in a season for the 13th straight year.
Lander had an outstanding season leading the Golden Eagles in wins with six while drawing national recognition from a phenomenal start against SUNY Oneonta in which he struck out 14 batters in a complete game shutout allowing only three hits and three walks. In Lander's next start, he took down nationally ranked Cortland, handing them their only conference loss during the regular season. During the regular season, Lander held a 6-1 record while striking out 30 batters in 48.2 innings pitched and maintaining a 2.41 earned run average.
Swayne excelled at the plate this season, driving in 19 runs and scoring 26 himself. Swayne tallied seven multiple hit games this season including batting a perfect four-for-four in Brockport's 10-6 win over Plattsburgh. The senior outfielder showed off his blazing speed on the base path stealing eight bases on 10 attempts.Â
Sanders has also been a force to reckon with at the plate. The junior infielder leads the team with 35 hits and is second on the team with 20 runs batted in. Swayne is also tied for the lead with 10 multiple hit games and ranks fourth with six stolen bases.
