JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – After competing in the WPI Duals on Saturday, some of the Brockport wrestling team was back in action on Sunday at the Jamestown Community College Open. The team saw wrestlers place in the top-five at four different weight classes on the day.
The 141-lb weight class saw the best showing for the Green and Gold, as they took home both second and third.
Jake Smith wrestled his way to the championship bout before falling to Scott McGregor who was wrestling unattached.
Donny McCoy had only one loss as well, also to McGregor, with his coming in the second round before fighting back to win the remainder of his bouts to take third.
After starting his day with two wins by fall,
Aaron Wilkinson fell in the third round of the 149-lb weight class. He earned another win by fall in the consolation bracket against Ithaca's Ben Brisman, before falling in the third place bout and settling for fourth.
Brockport earned two fifth place finishes at 157 and 165 from
Jackson Bell and
Nathaniel Palmer.
Bryan Mongiello also earned fourth place at 165, barely falling in the third place bout by a 3-2 decision.
Wrestling will have a week long break before traveling to Berea, Ohio next weekend for the annual John Summa Invitational.
