Chris Austin (Middlesex, NY/Naples) broke a school record and put up two NCAA qualifying marks at the Oswego Diving Invitational on Saturday afternoon for The College at Brockport Men's Swimming and Diving team.
Marcy Merritt (Sherwood, WI/Kaukauna) put up a career-high on the 3-meter board to headline the women's swimming and diving team.
Austin placed an NCAA qualifying score of 482.15 on the 3-meter board to break the old school record set in 2010 by Daniel Brigano. The previous record was 470.20 and Austin's previous personal record was 411.00 set in 2011. Austin's score was the top score at the invitational, taking first place by almost 50 points. Austin also scored an NCAA qualifying mark on the 1-meter board with a score of 442.15. The score is third best in school history, and second best in his career. Austin posted a score of 452.50 in 2011.
For the women, Merritt recorded a career-high score of 381.35 on the 3-meter board to finish in first place.
Audrey Jackson (Oswego, NY/Oswego) finished first on the 1-meter board at 350.55. Jackson also finished second on the 3-meter board with a score of 330.90. Merritt came in second on the 1-meter, finishing just behind Jackson with a score of 349.65. The women swept the top three spots in both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.
