Justin McCarthy (Mohegan Lake, NY/Lakeland) has been named a Third-Team All-American announced by d3baseball.com. Senior
Corey Booth (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) and junior
James Bardenett (Syracuse, NY/Henninger) have picked up all-region honors along with McCarthy from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
McCarthy, Brockport's primary closer on the year, is the first Golden Eagle to be named All-American since pitcher Ben Kimball in 2004. The sophomore tied for second in the nation with 10 saves on the season. McCarthy posted a team-best 1.20 ERA and finished with a 2-2 record on the mound. McCarthy also held opponents to a .173 batting average in 30 innings pitched while appearing in a team-high 18 games.
McCarthy is just one of three players from the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) to earn All-American honors. The right-handed hurler has also been named to the First-Team All- New York Region announced by the ABCA. McCarthy has also been named to the First-Team All-SUNYAC and First-Team All-Region by d3baseball.com earlier this year.
Joining McCarthy on the all-region team, junior ace
James Bardenett has been named Second-Team All-New York Region by ABCA. Bardenett was also named to the Third-Team All-New York Region from d3baseball.com earlier in the week. The junior tied a single season school record with nine wins on the season, finishing with a 9-2 record and 2.54 ERA. Bardenett won five of his last six starts to finish the year. Along with Bardenett's all-region selections, the junior was named to the First-Team All-SUNYAC and the SUNYAC All-Tournament teams following the conclusion of the season.
Booth picks up his first all-region selection as the senior was named to the Third-Team All-New York Region by the ABCA for the second consecutive year. The first baseman started all 43 games on the year and led Brockport with a .369 average. Booth had a team-high 59 hits and 35 runs batted in. The senior had a team-best .985 fielding percentage while leading the SUNYAC with 355 putouts. Booth also was named to the First-Team All-SUNYAC and SUNYAC All-Tournament team.
