Junior Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) and senior Dustin Colgan (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) each represented The College at Brockport Track & Field teams at the NCAA Division III Championships Saturday in California at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges.
Each competed in the shot put event and each finished in the top-20 in the final standings as Jones captured 19th place and Colgan took 15th overall for the Golden Eagles.
Jones had her best throw with her first throw of the meet in the first round of preliminary competition as she completed a 12.83-meter (42' 1 ¼”) throw.
Colgan also had his best effort in the first three-throw preliminary competition with a heave of 15.66 meters (51' 4 ½”) on his third, and final, throw of the round for the first flight of competitors.
Colgan advanced to the NCAA Championships with his final throw at the ECAC Championships earlier in May with a throw of 16.44 meters. Jones earned a spot in the championships with a school-record throw of 13.88 meters at the Alleghany College Gator Invitational also in May.
