Outdoor T&F Show Out at Regionals; Grinion Takes 400m Hurdles School Record

Brockport, NY – The men's and women's outdoor track and field teams finished off day 2 of AARTFC with impressive results and a number of school records. 

Men's Team: 

Following day 2, Gabriel Giannini walked away with a second place finish in the decathlon with 6446 points. 

In the decathlon 110m hurdles, Giannini took seventh at 16.58 seconds, and Tyler Miller finished 10th at 17.45 seconds. In the discus, Miller took first with a 36.75m throw and Giannini finished fifth at 28.42m. Miller had a second-place finish, clearing the pole in the pole vault at 4.45m, and Giannini took fourth at 4.15m. In the javelin, Giannini finished in second at 45.18m and Miller took seventh at 37.22m. Giannini finished out the day in fifth place in the 1500m from a time of 4:54.82. 

Sean Killip finished up in 19th in the men's 1500m race at a time of 4:02.94. 

Michael Durski also took 19th in the 400m, finishing in 48.86 seconds and in sixth all time. 

In the 800m race, Jonathan Zavala had a second all-time finish at 1L52.60 and fifth in the race. Owen Arbocus took eighth at 1:53.63, and Brian Cappellini finished 30th at 1:57.78. 

Ayden Grinion took the school record in the 400m hurdles with a quick time of 52.62 seconds, finishing second in the race. Timothy Smith had a fourth all time spot at 53.71 seconds also taking eighth in the race, and Jeremy Chen finished in 11th at a mark of 54.20 seconds. 

In the high jump, Cardin Chau took eighth place, clearing the pole at 1.87m. 

Finishing 24th in the hammer throw was Matthew Muscolo from a 46.67m throw. 

Dennis Bobbitt finished out the day with an eighth place finish and a ninth all time spot of 13.99m. 

Women's Team: 

Ethne Degan started the day strong for the women's team with a new school record in the 1500 at a time of 4:36.08 and finishing fourth in the race. Mia Vizcaino finished shortly after in eighth at a time of 4:41.44. 

Jaylah Cossin also had a school record from a dominating performance in the 800m, clinching third place at a time of 2:13.64. Vanessa Ramos finished up in 24th at a time of 2:21.05. 

In the 400m hurdles, Alexis Rodriguez finished with an impressive first place finish at 1:01.36, also good for second all-time in Brockport. Lily Rexford finished in 12th at 1:05.60, also good for eighth all time. 

Michaela Levesque cleared the pole at 1.52m in the high jump to finish in a four-way tie for ninth place. 

Finishing out the day in the hammer throw was Lainey Porter, taking 19th from a 43.16m throw, and Sarah Parr, taking 23rd at 40.80m. 

Up Next – The NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships will be taking place on Thursday, May 22nd, Friday, May 23rd, and Saturday, May 24th at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, OH.
