Junior Zach Ferrara (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) of the men’s track and field team has been selected as The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week following his performance at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships.

At the SUNYAC Championship, Ferrara set the conference and meet record in the pole vault event as he finished in first place with a height of 5.0 meters (16’ 4 3/4”) on his first attempt. The height also is a Brockport school record. Ferrara previously held the SUNYAC and Brockport record with a height of 4.96 meters set on Feb. 4 of this year. The mark is also tied for fifth place nationally.

Ferrara’s first place finish earned Brockport 10 points as the men’s track and field team finished in fifth place with 80 points overall. Next up for Ferrara and the Golden Eagles is the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships on Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3.
