Senior pitcher Jean Farrell (Rochester, NY/Penfield) has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week after a strong pitching performance for the Brockport softball team on their Spring Training trip in Lee County, Florida.
Farrell saved her best performance for her last outing of the trip, pitching an eight-inning no-hitter in 1-0 victory against Wisconsin-Lutheran. The Golden Eagles scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to take the victory. Farrell allowed just two walks and struck out seven to improve to 5-1 on the year.
Farrell had three other starts during the week, all victories. In a 12-0 win over Lasell on March 12, Farrell pitched four of five innings and allowed just two hits and struck out four. Against Ohio Wesleyan on March 14, Farrell went all seven innings in the 7-1 victory. She struck out 10 batters, her second highest total in her career. Farrell earned the victory against New Jersey City University with a complete game performance, allowing three earned runs and scattered seven hits.
Farrell finished the trip with a 1.55 ERA with just five earned runs. The Golden Eagles completed their Spring Training trip with an impressive 11-1 record.
