Junior Kaila Maguire (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam) of the women’s lacrosse team has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week after scoring a goal in the final seconds against Oneonta on Saturday to put Brockport into the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament.

With both teams playing in their final regular season game of the season and fighting for the final SUNYAC Playoff berth, Maguire provided the heroics. After Oneonta tied the score at 14 with 13 seconds to play, Maguire won the ensuing draw control and took off down field and found the back of the net with two seconds to play and give Brockport their third straight SUNYAC Tournament appearance. Maguire finished the game with four goals and three draw controls.

In Brockport’s other game of the game, a Wednesday afternoon SUNYAC showdown against Buffalo State, Maguire scored three goals. Brockport fell 13-12 to the Bengals who received the No. 3 seed in the tournament. Brockport will travel to Cortland to face the top-seeded Red Dragons on Friday while Buffalo State takes on Fredonia.
