Freshman Nick Tata (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute) of the men’s soccer team has been named The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week. The Golden Eagles posted a 1-1 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) record over the weekend as Tata contributed a goal and an assist.

Tata scored his second goal of the season in a 5-2 victory over New Paltz on Saturday. Tata put Brockport up 3-0 against the Hawks in the 31st minute as he had a one-on-one with the goalie and buried a shot to the lower right corner of the net. Tata’s goal was one of four first half scores for Brockport.

Tata was credited with his third assist of the year after playing a perfect through ball to Kevin Dorn in the second half who then beat two defenders for Brockport’s final goal of the game. The win upped Brockport’s conference record to 3-1-0 on the year. Tata ranks second on the team with seven points and leads the Golden Eagles with three assists.

Brockport will travel to Daemen College for a nonconference matchup on Oct. 2 before returning home to take on SUNYAC opponent Geneseo on Oct. 6.
