Rachel Malone (Faiport, NY/Faiport) has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week after becoming the first female runner in school history to earn All-American honors as the sophomore finished 34th overall at the 2012 NCAA Division III Championship.
Malone received All-American recognition at the meet, held in Terre Haute, IN, by placing in the top 35. The five-time Brockport Female Athlete of the Week crossed the finish line with a time of 21:57.1, the second-fastest time in school history. Malone now holds the top six times in program history.
Malone, a four-time State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Female Runner of the Week in 2012, was the top SUNYAC runner to cross the finish line, finishing 41 spots ahead of the next conference opponent.
The sophomore was also the second runner from the Atlantic Region to place at the meet, finishing seven places behind University of Rochester runner Lauren Norton.
