John Ivy (Rochester, NY/East) has been named The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week after leading the men’s basketball team in scoring in all three games last week. The junior guard averaged 22.7 points over the three contests.
Against Oswego, Ivy scored 29 points, one off of his career-high set in the previous game. The junior went 10-16 from the floor, including a personal-best 4-5 from beyond the arc. Ivy hit a fadeaway jumper with 27 seconds left on the clock to put Brockport up two, but Oswego rallied back to take the win 81-80 in the final seconds.
Ivy scored 22 points against New Paltz on Friday night, his third consecutive 20-point scoring effort. Ivy hit above 50 percent from the floor for the third straight game while going 7-9 from the free throw line.
The junior scored just 17 points on Saturday against Oneonta, but helped the Golden Eagles earn their first State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory of the season. Against the Red Dragons, Ivy grabbed five rebounds and collected two steals on the night as Brockport earned the 83-70 victory.
Ivy and the Golden Eagles are off until they host the Brockport Invitational on Dec. 29-30. Brockport will take on Pitt-Bradford in the opening round.
