Junior Nate Matthews (Frankfort, NY/Frankfort-Schuyler) of the men’s track and field team posted a first-place finish at the Baldwin Wallace Mid-February Meet on Friday and has been named The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week.

Competing in the men’s 800-meter run for the first time this season, Matthews posted a time of 1:55.61, finishing more than a full second ahead of the rest of the field. Matthews’ time currently ranks 18th in the Division III and second in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).

The Golden Eagles will travel to Cornell University on Saturday for the Denult Invitational before taking on the SUNYAC Championships hosted by Brockport on Feb. 23
