Sophomore Rachel Malone (Fairport, NY/Fairport) has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week after capturing her first State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Indoor Championship over the weekend.

Malone claimed the individual championship in the women’s 5,000-meter run with a facility record time of 17:37.80. Malone was one of four Golden Eagles to earn a SUNYAC Championship at the Special Events Recreation Center (SERC).

The sophomore finished almost 21 seconds ahead of the second place finisher and topped the facility record by almost four seconds.

Malone, an All-American during the cross country season, won the individual Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship in the 10,000-meter run during last year’s outdoor track and field championships.
