No Division III running back has rushed for more yards in a game this year than Golden Eagles’ junior transfer Alex Hendrickson (Unadilla, NY/Unatego), who scampered for a career-high 310 yards and two touchdowns to earn The College at Brockport’s Male Athlete of the Week honors.
Hendrickson, whose previous best rushing output was 42 yards against The College of New Jersey last weekend, averaged a robust 7.2 yards per carry, with a 59-yard gain as his longest run during Saturday night’s 48-41 road loss to SUNY Morrisville.
The Ithaca College transfer scored on a 16-yard run early in the first quarter and added a 35-yard TD run early in the second quarter for the Golden Eagles. Hendrickson, who had only 15 carries for 61 yards through Brockport’s first three games, rushed for 241 first-half yards as the Golden Eagles held a 34-24 halftime lead.
Hendrickson recorded the second-highest rushing performance in school history, surpassed only by Garet Lynch’s NCAA Division III record 429-yard performance against Hartwick College in 2008.
