Emily Dumas (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) of the softball team has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week after helping the Golden Eagles clinch the No. 1 seed in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament. Dumas and the Golden Eagles claimed the regular season SUNYAC title after going 15-3 in league play this year.
Dumas had a strong week at the plate when it mattered most. The junior third baseman batted .409 over the six-game span, collecting nine hits, including one double and two home runs. Dumas recorded a .727 slugging percentage and scored four runs on the week while driving in seven runs.
In a doubleheader sweep of Fredonia on Monday, Dumas picked up three hits and scored twice as Brockport moved into first place in the conference standings.
On Friday against Cortland, Dumas delivered her biggest hit of the year, a three-run go-ahead home run in the sixth inning to give Brockport a 5-4 victory over the Red Dragons. Dumas had two more hits in the nightcap against Cortland as the Golden Eagles completed the sweep and clinched the regular season title. Dumas finished with five hits and five RBI in the doubleheader.
The Golden Eagles will host the SUNYAC Tournament at the Clark V. Whited Complex starting Thursday morning. Brockport will take on Oswego in the first game of the tournament, set for 9:00 am.
