In just 11 games, sophomore Sarah Lawson (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East) has already tied The College at Brockport record for assists in a season. The record-tying midfielder earned Female Athlete of the Week honors.
Lawson, a midfielder, tied the mark when she fed senior Abby Smith (Mexico, NY/Mexico) off a corner kick in the 62nd minute for the winning goal during a 1-0 triumph over first-place SUNY Oneonta Saturday afternoon.
That assist gave Lawson 12 on the season and moved her into a tie with Ashley Ewin (2006) and Jill Neidlinger (2007). Lawson, who has also scored five goals, started the year fast, recording eight assists in Brockport’s first three games. Her season-high of three assists was accomplished twice, during wins over Keuka College and SUNY Old Westbury.
