Sophomore Courtney White (Massena, NY/Massena) set a new meet record, winning the 2013 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Discus Throw. For her efforts, White has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week.

White won the event with a winning toss of 43.42 meters (142’ 05”), eclipsing the previous meet record of 43.18 meters (141’ 6”). White beat out fellow teammate Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) who came in second with a distance of 41.65 meters (136’ 08”).

White becomes the first Brockport athlete to be crowned SUNYAC champion in the event since 2006 when Jen Heim won in back-to-back years. The sophomore also broke a streak of four consecutive years in which an athlete from Oneonta won the event. White’s distance currently ranks 11th in all of Division III.

Brockport will head to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships May 10-12 at Princeton University.
