Senior tailback Riedrick Alceus (Haverstraw, NY/North Rockland) rushed for a career-high 127 yards and three touchdowns, but the solid play of the Golden Eagles’ offensive line made it easy for Alceus to run to daylight. The O-Line earned The College at Brockport’s Male Athletes of the Week honors for their play in the New Jersey Athletic Conference-opener.
The five starting offensive linemen, Brandon Burris (Rochester, NY/Brighton), Chris Corkery (Cornwall, NY/Cornwall), Justin McKain (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia), Sean Kearney (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) and Arnold De La Cruz (Bronx, NY/Evander Childs), opened up big holes all game long as Brockport rolled past Western Connecticut State University 35-23 in its home opener.
After getting down 9-0, Alceus broke off a nifty 64-yard touchdown run off the left tackle early in the second quarter to give Brockport momentum. The play was fueled by solid blocking by the guys on the line. For the day, Brockport rushed for 193 yards, passed for 216 yards and piled up 409 yards of total offense, all season-best totals.
