The College at Brockport’s men’s soccer team is off to an unbeaten 4-0-1 start, and the solid play of senior goalie Joe Marino (Rochester, NY/McQuaid) is a big factor behind the Golden Eagles’ success. Marino, who earned his third and fourth shutouts of 2010 after blanking St. John Fisher College and Hobart College, was named the Male Athlete of the Week honors after making 11 saves in the two wins.
Marino hasn’t allowed a goal in 390 minutes and has pitched four consecutive shutouts for Brockport. Marino made five saves during a 3-0 home win over Fisher and came up with six saves during Saturday’s 1-0 shutout of previously undefeated Hobart, which was the No. 1 team in the country according to the weekly D3soccer.com national online poll.
Marino has only surrendered two goals in 460 minutes, and sports a miniscule .39 goals-against average.
