Senior defender Mike Breman (Merrick, NY/Bellmore-JFK) earned male athlete of the week honors as Brockport went 2-0-1 and pitched a pair of shutouts to open the season.
Led by Breman, the defense allowed only seven shots during a season-opening 4-2 win over Cazenovia. In the Doug May Memorial Tournament at RIT, Breman’s unit clamped down to allow only two shots during a 0-0 tie with Nazareth. In the consolation game of the tournament, Breman, who earned all-tournament team honors, again held Ithaca to just seven shots as the Golden Eagles emerged with a 1-0 win.
The defense for coach Gary LaPietra’s squad surrendered just two goals on 16 shots through three games and has registered back-to-back shutouts.
