SUNY Brockport Athletics

Junior defenseman David Rougeux (Canastota, NY/Oneida) has been named The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 3. Rougeux scored the game-winning overtime goal to push the Golden Eagles on to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men’s Soccer Semifinals.

Brockport was leading Oswego 1-0 in the SUNYAC quarterfinal for much of the game before the Lakers evened things up late in the second half, sending the game into overtime.

After the Lakers nearly scored the golden goal in overtime, Brockport took the ball deep into the Lakers zone. A Golden Eagle slid a pass just beyond the left post of the net and Rougeux buried the ball into the back of the net for the decisive goal. It was Rougeux's first goal of the season.

Brockport travels to Cortland for an 11 am game this Wednesday for the SUNYAC Semifinals. The Golden Eagles and Red Dragons had quite the offensive slugfest in their previous meeting this year, with Cortland pulling out the 4-3 overtime win.
