Junior Olivia Suhr (Rochester, NY/Marion) has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 12. Suhr has been a dominating force down low for the Golden Eagles Women’s Basketball team in three of their last four games (Did not play January 6).
Despite missing a game, Suhr led the team in rebounds and tied for the team lead in points over the four game stretch against St. Lawrence, Buffalo State, New Paltz and Oneonta. In Brockport’s most recent home game against St. Lawrence, on Decemeber 30, Suhr dominated the paint going 9-of-16 from the floor finishing with 19 points and six rebounds.
In a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) matchup against New Paltz, on January 9, Suhr made her presence known near the basket. She finished the game with an exceptional 13 rebounds and three blocks. Five of her rebounds came on the offensive side which helped her to total 16 points on the game behind a 7-of-14 night.
In another SUNYAC contest against Oneonta, on Jan. 10, Suhr set a career best by scoring 21 points against the Red Dragons. She helped lead the Golden Eagles to a 26-24 halftime lead, behind her 13 points, but Oneonta overcame Brockport’s strong first half to win the game. Suhr finished with 10 rebounds on the night.
Brockport Women’s Basketball continues SUNYAC play as it returns home to face Oswego this Tuesday at 7:30 pm, Friday against Buffalo State at 7:30 pm and Saturday against Fredonia at 4:00 pm.
