SUNY Brockport Athletics

The College at Brockport’s men’s basketball team swept its weekend home games against Oneonta and New Paltz, and junior Gerald Williams (Rochester, NY/Charlotte) was a big reason why Brockport moved into second place in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) standings.

Williams scored 41 points in the two wins and was named The College at Brockport’s Male Athlete of the Week.

Williams scored 20 points, including connecting on a pair of 3-pointers, and added four of Brockport’s 13 steals as the Golden Eagles withstood a 22-1 run from Oneonta to prevail 61-57 Friday night. Williams scored 14 second-half points, including hitting a ‘3’ and coming up with a big steal and layup to give Brockport a 50-49 lead.

Facing New Paltz on Saturday, Williams scored a career-best 21 points on 5 of 8 shooting and made 9 of his 10 free throws as the Golden Eagles (6-6 overall, 4-1 SUNYAC) picked up their fifth win in their last six games.
