Freshman Lucienne Ford (Hartwick, NY/Cooperstown) has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 26. Ford helped lead the Brockport Women’s Track and Field team to a first place finish at the Golden Eagle Multi and Invitational that concluded Saturday afternoon.
Ford won Pentathlon helping Brockport score 128 points on the two day event. The Golden Eagles finished 15 points ahead of runner up Oneonta.
Ford finished the first Pentathlon event in sixth place, recording a time of 10.62 in the 60-meter hurdles. She then tied for the lead with a Golden Eagles teammate in the high jump with a jump of 1.58 meters.
Ford followed that with an excellent shot put. She recorded the top throw of 9.11 meters. She then placed third in the long jump with a distance of 4.92 meters. In the final must win event for Ford, she dominated the field finishing with seconds to spare in front of other competitors. She completed the 800-meter run in 2:37.00 to claim the Pentathlon crown. Overall in the Pentathlon event Ford recorded 2,930 points finishing 85 points ahead of her runner up Golden Eagle teammate.
Of Brockport’s 128 points, Ford recorded 10 of those with her Pentathlon victory. However Ford’s day was not complete as she teamed up with Heather LaValle (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls), Marissa Gosdeck (Alden, NY/Alden) and Elizabeth Merritt (Elmira, NY/Elmira Southside) to win the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 13:00.51.
Brockport travels to Hamilton January 31 for its next meet. The competition begins at 10 am on Saturday.
