Sophomore Levi Pace (Medina, NY/Medina) has been named The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 16. Pace was a major factor in three consecutive victories for the men’s basketball team.
In Brockport’s (12-10, 9-6 SUNYAC) victory over Fredonia on Tuesday, Pace halted a comeback from Fredonia with less than two minutes remaining in the game. The Golden Eagles lead was cut to three points with 1:36 remaining when Pace made a three-point play the long way to push Brockport ahead by two possessions.
Against Oneonta Friday evening, Pace totaled 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He also finished with an impressive five blocks during the 56-52 win against the Red Dragons. One highlight of the night came from Pace in the form of a dunk. Pace picked up a loose ball, dribbled by a defender and threw down a powerful two hand slam in the first half.
Pace also had a highlight play during a win against New Paltz Saturday evening. During the first half of play Pace capped off a nine point lead for the Golden Eagles when he stepped in front of a Hawks pass, stole the ball and streaked down the court with one man to beat. He went up for a quick layup and used the rim to screen the defender from his basket. He finished the game with 14 points, seven rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals.
Brockport returns to action Tuesday night against Cortland at 5:30 pm. Be sure to stay up to date on all your Golden Eagle scores and awards by following Ellsworth on twitter @EllsworthEagle.
