Senior Nina Tassone (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 6. Tassone racked up eight points on the week while leading the Golden Eagles to their first State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory over Oneonta on Saturday.

Against Oneonta on Saturday, Tassone led the team with four goals and one assist. She scored at a highly efficient rate taking six shots while finding the net on four of those occasions. The Golden Eagles dominated the action Saturday afternoon with Tassone playing a major role in the 17-4 victory. Two of Tassone’s goals came at the end of the first half that gave Brockport an 11-2 halftime lead, and she also assisted on the Green and Gold’s last score of the game.

In a tightly contested game between Brockport and Fredonia on Tuesday, Tassone once again led the Golden Eagles with three goals. In a game against the nationally ranked Blue Devils, Tassone was able to beat the second most difficult SUNYAC goalie to score on three times nearly leading Brockport in a come from behind effort. Tassone showcased an excellent array of athleticism, utilizing speed, agility and a surplus of moves to free herself from a stingy Blue Devils defense for her three scores as the Golden Eagles fell 11-8.

Brockport hits the road with two important SUNYAC games this week against Buffalo State on Tuesday at 4 pm and Potsdam on Saturday at 12:30 pm. The Bengals currently sit in second place in the SUNYAC standings with a perfect 2-0 conference record.
