Senior Maria Quagliana (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) claimed a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) diving championship during this weekend’s SUNYAC championship meet in Buffalo. After winning the one-meter with a school-record score of 440.10, Quagliana is Brockport’s Female Athlete of the Week.

Quagliana, who entered the finals in second place, shattered her old school record by 14.05 points and won with another NCAA championship-qualifying score during the competition Saturday night at Erie Community College.

Quagliana, who last winter became the first Brockport female diver to earn All-American honors when she was named Honorable Mention during her junior season, also placed second on the three-meter, scoring 432.05 points.
