Clifton Lyerly led the Golden Eagles as they opened the season with a pair of wins in the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Memorial tournament to bring home the title. The senior started the season just shy of his career-high, with 30 points in 29 minutes, shooting 11-of-21 from the field and 2-of-4 from three-point range. The Inwood, N.Y. native also pulled down six rebounds, six steals and had one assist in the 84-71 win over Hampden-Sydney College. Lyerly again led all scorers the following night, leading Brockport past Case Western Reserve University with 24 points. He added seven boards, three steals, two assists and one block. Lyerly also joined the 1,000 point club in the second game of the season, currently sitting with 1,021 points. On the week, Lyerly shot .513 percent (20-of-39) from the field, averaged 27 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 1.5 assists.
