Brockport, NY – Alex West, a 5’11” linebacker from Dansville, was named The Mall at Greece Ridge Male Athlete of the Week on Monday. West led the way for the Brockport defense as the Golden Eagles won their third straight Courage Bowl following a convincing 17-0 shut out win over host St. John Fisher on Saturday night.
West, who was also named the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week, had multiple season highs after coming out victorious against the Cardinals on Saturday. He managed to rack up a season high seven tackles at Fisher. West also contributed 2.5 out of the team’s nine sacks.
West ranks in the top 20 in the Empire 8 with 27 total tackles this season. He also ranks fourth in the league with 3.5 sacks and third with 9.0 tackles for a loss. He is a captain for arguably the top defense in the league, allowing an average of just 12.2 points per contest. The Brockport rushing defense has been stellar once again, allowing an average of just 42.6 yards per game, tops in the league.
Brockport Football gets right back at it this Saturday at 12 p.m. as the Golden Eagles host Hartwick College at Bob Boozer Field.
