Sophomore Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) broke The College at Brockport’s school record in the shot put and, in the process, provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday afternoon. For the third time during the 2010-11 school year, Jones is Brockport's Female Athlete of the Week.

Jones' winning heave of 12.81 meters (42 feet, one half inch) was six inches better than the previous school record set in 1992 by Carrie Gorton. Jones captured a shot put title for the fifth time this outdoor season, and Jones also placed second in the discus and fifth in the hammer throw for the Golden Eagles.
On Monday, Jones earned the State University of New York Athletic Conference’s (SUNYAC) Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. It is Jones’ third time claiming the SUNYAC’s top Field Athlete of the Week honors in the last five weeks.
