Sophomore Erin Luke (Latham, NY/Shaker) helped lead the Brockport women’s swimming and diving team to a second place finish at the Geneseo Invitational meet, winning the 50-yard freestyle in a close finish.
Luke’s winning time of 25:41 nearly broke the school record, falling just .04 seconds short. Luke also competed in the 100-yard backstroke, coming in second place behind Geneseo’s Abby Max. The sophomore also had a helping hand in the 400 yard freestyle relay as the anchor. Brockport came in second in the relay, finishing just behind Geneseo.
For her efforts, Luke has been named the Brockport Female Athlete of the Week for the second time in her career, and the first member of the swimming and diving team to win the award this season.
Luke and the Golden Eagles’ next meet is a home contest on Wednesday, Nov. 2 against Nazareth College.
