Senior guard Desiree Fauvelle (Newport, NY/West Canada Valley) has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week after her performance in the Onnie’s Classic Tournament at Nazareth College over the weekend.
Fauvelle was named to the All-Tournament team after leading the Golden Eagles to a 1-1 record in the tournament. On Saturday against Smith College, Fauvelle scored eight points, grabbed two rebounds and had two steals in 27 minutes of action.
In Brockport’s win on Sunday against Cazenovia College, Fauvelle erupted for 20 points on a strong shooting night. Fauvelle went 4-4 from 3-point range as the Golden Eagles won 62-42. Fauvelle finished the night shooting 6-7 from the field, and 4-5 from the free-throw line. She also collected three steals.
Fauvelle also played an important role on defense, keeping Cazenovia’s point guard in check throughout the game. The Golden Eagles held their opponent to just 32.7 percent shooting, including 22.2 percent from three-point range.
