SUNY Brockport Athletics

Jason Morini

The College at Brockport Athletic Department introduced Jason Morini as the head coach of the Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Teams and Aquatics Director in the summer of 2012. Morini joined the Golden Eagle staff after eight successful years at Misercordia University (Pa).

During the 2018-19 season Morini helped in producing one men’s All-American Diver as well as a SUNYAC champion, and top finishes across the board. The women’s diving team saw two women compete in the NCAA’s, while the men’s diving team produced one that finished the highest in program history.

Morini led the men's and women's swimming and diving team in the 2017-2018 season to tops finishes across the conference, and 43 school records between both teams. His season was highlighted when he helped coach a two-time All-American in both the one and three-meter dive, a SUNYAC Rookie of the Year, and a first place finish at the SUNYAC Championships, which is a first for Brockport in 30 years.

During Morini’s second year, the Golden Eagles combined to finish the 2013-14 season 7-7. Brockport finished with 16 school records between the men and women with a strong SUNYAC Championships. Junior Melanie Melewski was a part of six of those records and also broke the 100-yard breaststroke SUNYAC meet record. Freshman diver, Gabriel Arias earned a trip to the NCAA Zones in just his rookie season and finished 11th overall.

In his first season at the helm of the program, Morini led the Golden Eagles men’s and women’s teams to a combined overall record of 7-9, while the women finished in sixth place and the men in seventh at the SUNYAC Championships. Senior Kenny Smith earned All-SUNYAC Second-Team honors, the first swimmer to earn All-Conference recognition since 2007. Brockport finished the season with seven school records.

The two years prior to Morini coming to Brockport, he led the Cougars to 32 school records. Misericordia posted a winning record in each of Morini's last four seasons. In his eight seasons as head coach, Misericordia compiled an overall record of 105-63. During the 2011-2012 campaign, Morini led the men's team to a second place finish and the women's team to a third place finish at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC). Morini was a two-time MAC Coach of the Year.

Prior to Morini's tenure at Misericordia, he rejuvenated the swimming and diving program at Canisius College, becoming the school's first full-time head coach. Morini restored the men's program at Canisius after a six year hiatus.

Morini got his start as an assistant coach at Ithaca College for the 2000-2001 season and moved on to become a graduate assistant at Alfred University for two seasons before taking over at Canisius. Morini was on the coaching staff for the first ever conference championships at Ithaca, Alfred, and Misercordia.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Morini also worked alongside the late U.S. Olympic coach and Stanford University head coach Richard Quick at the Richard Quick National Swim Camp for several years.

Morini was a four-year letterwinner at Ithaca where he served as a team captain during his senior year and received a bachelor's degree in Anthropology. Morini earned his master's degree from Alfred in professional studies in community service administration.
