Building Sustained Success
Since the 1996-97 season, the leader of the SUNY Brockport hockey team has been Brian Dickinson. During that time, Dickinson has developed the team into a consistent contender for a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament berth. In the 2019-2020 season, the team achieved its best conference record under Dickinson. On January 24th, 2020, the Golden Eagles defeated Plattsburgh, 4-1, to set a new program record with seven consecutive wins. From 2008 to 2021, Dickinson has led the team to double-digit victories in 11 seasons, including nine straight 10+ win seasons from 2013 to 2022. In recent years, Coach Dickinson has surpassed 200 wins for his career, led the Golden Eagles to an appearance in the SUNYAC Semifinals, and coached the program's latest All-American, Ryan Romeo. In 2023, he coached SUNYAC's Defensemen of the Year, Alex Monteleone. This was the coach's second year in a row having his team earn the honor, after Romeo won it the year prior. Making the jump to the UCHC conference in 2024-25, Dickinson would mentor freshman Aidan Taylor to a UCHC All-Rookie  Team selection.

Before Brockport
A 1988 graduate of North Adams State (now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts), Dickinson was Buffalo State's first varsity hockey coach and guided a developing program to 19 wins over his three seasons with the Bengals. Before his stint in Buffalo, he helped mold Fredonia into a national championship-caliber team. Dickinson came to Brockport after three seasons as the head coach of Buffalo State and five seasons as the lead assistant to Jeff Meredith at Fredonia. Dickinson was also an assistant at North Adams State for the 1987-88 season.

Under Dickinson's Guidance
In his 20+ years at Brockport Dickinson has coached over 25 all-conference players, with 10 First-Team selections, three players of the year, two defensive players of the year, and two rookie of the year awards. Dickinson was named the SUNYAC Coach of the Year twice. During his tenure, Dickinson has coached numerous SUNYAC All-Conference players, including James Cody, who became the program's first-ever All-American and first-ever SUNYAC Player of the Year in 2011-2012. In addition to coaching the varsity hockey team, Dickinson oversees the day-to-day operations of the Tuttle North Ice Arena, including the supervision of a staff of approximately 25 student workers. The rink operates on ice from early September to late March.

Personal
Dickinson and his wife, Melisa, reside in Brockport and have five children: Halee, Jacob, Kasey, Joshua, and Moriah.
