Shaun Caveny returned to the Golden Eagles baseball coaching staff in 2016 after previously coaching for The College at Brockport from 2009-13.
Caveny has an impressive resume that dates back to his time as a player at Utica College in the Empire 8 Conference. During his senior season at Utica in 2006 he was awarded a spot on the All-Conference team as well as earning a spot on the President’s List for his academic success.
He immediately began coaching with the Pioneers upon graduation, first as an assistant before leading the program as the head coach in ’08 and ’09. After the ’09 season, Caveny moved onto Brockport where he helped the Golden Eagles to some of their most successful seasons.
During his time with Brockport, the Green and Gold won a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship in 2010, placed third in the NCAA New York Regionals, and had a player earn First Team All-American honors while several other Golden Eagles under his tutelage were signed to professional contracts.
Virginia Intermont College had similar results with Caveny as an assistant coach as two players earned Daktronic NAIA Academic All-American awards, an All-AAC honor and multiple players were signed to professional contracts between the years of 2013-14. Most recently Cavney worked as an assistant at Alma College in Michigan.
Caveny’s responsibilities include working with pitchers, recruitment and team management. He received his BA in Health Science in 2006 from Utica with a minor in business.
