Jason Chudzinski (Albany, NY/Colonie) and junior Thomas Rispoli (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) each scored major decision victories for The College at Brockport Wrestling team, ranked No. 12 in the nation in the latest Brute Division III poll, as the Golden Eagles posted a 23-9 victory over Lycoming College Friday night in the team's first dual match of the season.
Brockport (1-0) fell behind 3-0 losing a close 5-3 decision at 125 pounds but rebounded to take the lead for good as Chudzinski scored a 10-2 major decision in the 133-pound bout. Chudzinski worked free for an escape after an early Lycoming (5-6) takedown and then scored a takedown and a near fall close to the end of the first period to take a 6-2 lead after the first three minutes.
Chudzinski scored three more points in the second period with an escape and a takedown and earned the major decision victory with the riding time point at the end of the match.
Christopher Collura (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) won a 4-2 decision at 141 pounds before Lycoming won a decision at 149 pounds to trim the Brockport lead to 7-6.
Rispoli scored his major decision in the next bout with a commanding victory scoring seven takedowns including five in the third period on a series of takedowns and allowed escapes for a final 16-5 victory.
Junior
Justin James (Spencerport, NY/Brockport) made it a 14-6 Brockport lead with a 10-4 decision at 165 pounds. James used a pair of takedowns in both the first and second periods to pull away.
Freshman Mike Bosco (East Northport, NY/John Glenn) scored a 6-2 victory at 174 pounds and nearly ended the match in the first period with a takedown and near fall.
Lycoming scored its final points of the night as sophomore Luke Pariso (Darien, NY/Attica) was upset at 184 pounds dropping a 3-1 decision on a takedown with just four seconds left in the third period.
Tom Voorhis (Chenango Forks, NY/Chenango Forks) and freshman
John Wilkinson (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) earned 3-0 and 2-0 shutout victories respectively in the final two bouts of the night to seal the Brockport victory.
