Justin James (Spencerport, NY/Brockport) scored a takedown with less than 10 seconds remaining in the third period to post a come-for-behind 4-3 decision and led The College at Brockport Wrestling team to a dominating 31-9 win over Oswego Wednesday night at the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium in Brockport.
The match was the final home dual of the season for the Golden Eagles (5-1) and senior
John Chowske (South Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls) was honored prior to the start of the match.
Brockport won the first three bouts of the night as
David Manzueta (Brentwood, NY/Brentwood) opened the dual with a major decision 12-3 win at 184 pounds followed by junior
Tom Voorhis (Chenango Forks, NY/Chenango Forks) winning by pin at 2:53 of the first period at 197 pounds and freshman
John Wilkinson (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) taking a 4-2 decision at heavyweight.
Oswego (4-6) scored its first victory with a quick pin at 37 seconds of the first period in the 125-pound bout.
Brockport freshman
Jason Chudzinski (Albany, NY/Colonie) scored a first-period takedown and held on for a 2-1 decision at 133 pounds but Oswego won the 141-pound bout with a 5-2 decision.
The Golden Eagles won the final four matches of the night with sophomore
Eliah Golding (Albany, NY/Colonie) recording a pin in 1:35 of the first period followed by a Thomas Rispoli (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) 9-3 decision at 157 pounds and then the James victory at 165 pounds.
Freshman
Michael Bosco (East Northport, NY/John Glenn) closed out the victory with a 6-4 decision as he recorded a reversal in the final period to pull ahead.
