Sophomore
Erin Luke (Latham, NY/Shaker) continued her success in the pool this season by breaking a school record against Oswego State on Saturday. Luke and the Golden Eagles defeated the Lakers by a score of 163-135.
Luke, who has hovered around the school record in the 50-yard freestyle all season long finally came through with a time of 25.19 seconds, breaking the old mark of 25.37 seconds. Her best finish prior to the meet in the event was a time of 25.41 at the Geneseo Invitational on Oct. 29.
Luke had already made a splash in the meet before breaking the school record by tying her own personal best time in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.78. That time was good enough for a first-place finish.
Brockport used an array of swimmers to capture multiple victories on the day.
Chloe Macdonald (Williamsville, NY/Mt. St. Mary Academy) defeated the field in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:32.65.
Paige Whitney (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) came out on top in the 200-yard freestyle, while
Rachel Coia (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:29.58.
Sarah Eisenmenger won the 100-yard butterfly event at 1:04.62
Megan Vandewinckel (Ontario, NY/Wayne) won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions, giving the Golden Eagles 18 points.
In the final event of the day, Luke teamed up with Whitney,
Melanie Melewski (New Baltimore, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk), and
Amy Jessmer (Albion, NY/Albion) in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The group scored a victory for the Golden Eagles with a time of 3:49.96.
Along with Luke's accomplishments, 20 other season-best times were set for Brockport. Seven lifetime bests were also set as well.
