Women Set School Record in Medley Relay

Brockport falls to Nazareth in a midweek dual meet

RESULTS

The 400-yard medley relay of Erin Luke (Latham, NY/Shaker), Melanie Melewski (New Baltimore, NY/R-C-S), Alanna Blasting (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) and Paige Whitney (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) broke the school record Wednesday night in a dual meet against Nazareth College at the James B. Fulton Natatorium in Brockport. Nazareth (3-0) won the meet by a score of 167-120.
 
Brockport (2-3) recorded a pair of first place finishes on the night and had several second place finishes and top career swims.
 
The old record in the 400-yard medley relay was set nearly 15 years ago in 1997.
 
Whitney won the 100-yard freestyle, finished second in the 200-yard freestyle and was a member of the second-place 400-yard freestyle relay to complete the night. Chloe Macdonald (Williamsville, NY/Mt. St. Mary) was the top finisher in the 1000-yard freestyle and took second in the 500-yard freestyle race.
 
Other top finishers included Melewski who had second place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke and was part of the second place 400-yard freestyle relay. Luke was second in the 100-yard backstroke, 50-yard freestyle and swam the anchor leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay while Blasting was second in the 200-yard individual medley and third in the 100-yard breaststroke. Amy Jessmer (Albion, NY/Albion) was second 100-yard freestyle and third in the 50-yard freestyle. Mackenzie Wilcox (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) was the lead-off swimmer in the Brockport's second place 400-yard freestyle relay.
