Golden Eagles Roll Over Potsdam

Brockport sweeps all 11 events to win the meet 166-85

The College at Brockport Women's Swimming and Diving team won all 11 events against Potsdam on Saturday afternoon as the Golden Eagles defeated the Bears 166-85 at the James B. Fulton Natatorium. Melanie Melewski (New Baltimore, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) and Eva Lankes (Liverpool, NY/Amherst) both scored one relay and two individual wins.

The Golden Eagles took the top two spots in the very first event, the 200-yard medley relay. Lankes took the first leg, followed by Melewski. Rachel Coia (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) swam the third and Erin Luke (Latham, NY/Shaker) was the anchor as the foursome came in with a time of 1:53.93. Hannah Sonner (Painted Post, NY/Corning-Painted Post West), Alanna Blasting (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West), Rachel Scott (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy), and Jessica Perrone (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) finished as the second foursome in the event.

In the next event, Jennifer Conklin (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Sutherland) took the top overall spot in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:36.57, her best of the season in the event. Paige Whitney (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) beat teammate Sarah Eisenmenger (North Rose, NY/North Rose-Wolcott) by two seconds in the 200-yard freestyle.

Lankes scored an individual victory in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke. The senior bested teammate Taylor Schaffert (Lockport, NY/Lockport) in each event. Schaffert claimed her own personal victory in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.64.

Melewski's two top individual finishes came in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke. The sophomore finished the 100 event in a time of 1:10.71 and the 200 event in 2:32.52.

On the diving board, Stasi Ozminkowski (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) had a strong showing for the Golden Eagles. The sophomore placed first on the 1-meter boards with a season-high score of 214.87.

Brockport will host its third consecutive home meet as the Golden Eagles take on Oswego at 1:00 pm on Saturday, Nov. 17.
