Senior
Eva Lankes (Liverpool, NY/Amherst) and sophomore
Melanie Melewski (New Baltimore, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) posted four first place finishes each leading The College at Brockport Women's Swimming and Diving team past Oswego in a combined dual meet Saturday at the James B. Fulton Natatorium in Brockport. Brockport won by a final score of 173-104. On the men's side of the meet, Oswego posted a 160-127 win over the Golden Eagles.
Melewski and Lankes were members of the top relay in the 200-yard medley relay to open the meet. In the 200-medley relay, Lankes and Melewski were the first two legs of the race and teammates
Rachel Coia (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) and
Erin Luke (Latham, NY/Shaker) combined to post a winning time of 1:54.28 to give Brockport the early lead.
Melewski continued by winning the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events and then capped her day with the top time in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:20.65.
Lankes swam the winning times in both the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events and teamed with Jess Perrone (Lockport, NY/Starpoint),
Paige Whitney (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) and Luke for the best time in the 400-freestyle relay to end the meet.
Luke added a victory in the 100-yard freestyle and Coia added a first-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly. Perrone and Luke finished first and second respectively in the 50-yard freestyle. Distance freestyler
Jennifer Conklin (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Sutherland) won the 1,650 free and the 500 free distance events. Her time in the 1,650 of 19:00.99 was just 10 seconds off the school record in the event.
Chloe Macdonald (Williamsville, NY/Mt. St. Mary Academy) added a win in the 200-yard freestyle for Brockport.
Audrey Jackson (Oswego, NY/Oswego) and
Stasi Ozminkowski (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) won the diving events for Brockport with Jackson scoring a 208.60 in the 1-meter event and Ozminkowski taking the 3-meter competition with a 216.90.
For the Brockport men, senior
Kenny Smith (Rochester, NY/Eastridge) helped Brockport to four wins with two first-place finishes in the relays and sweeping the butterfly races for the Golden Eagles. Smith teamed with Eric Zawislak (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield),
Matthew Panebianco (Alleghany, NY/Alleghany-Limestone) and
Nathan Dubois (Mendon, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) for a winning time of 1:42.98 in the 200-yard medley relay. After posting top times in the two butterfly events, Smith finished the day with teammates
Joe Klafehn (Hilton, NY/Hilton),
Chris Heckman (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) and Dubois for the winning 400-yard freestyle relay finishing in a time of 3:24.44.
Dubois added a win in the 100-yard freestyle and Heckman finished right behind Smith in the 100-yard butterfly for the Golden Eagles.
