Box Score
The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team put up a quality fight against the No. 2 team in the country in St. Lawrence, but fell 2-0 on Saturday afternoon during Homecoming Weekend. The Golden Eagles gave up a late first half goal that proved to be the game-winner.
Taking on one of the elite programs in all of Division III soccer, Brockport kept pace with the Saints and showed a solid defense for most of the first half. Brockport was limited to few chances offensively, taking just three shots in the first half.
Nick Tata (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute) took a shot early on with a solid strike from outside the box that dipped to the near post to test the St. Lawrence keeper. Brockport was outshot 24-7 on the day.
Freshman
Casey Sullivan (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) earned his second straight start and played well throughout the game. A perfectly played cross found a St. Lawrence head that beat Sullivan for the Saints' first goal and in the second half, a line drive shot from the top of the box found its way through a crowd. Sullivan played aggressive throughout the day as he was tested often.
After facing back-to-back quality opponents in the last four days, Brockport has the next five days off before getting into the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) portion of its schedule. The Golden Eagles will travel to Buffalo State on Friday for a 4:00 pm matchup and will take on Fredonia State at 1:00 pm Saturday.
