Men’s Soccer Suffers First Loss of The Season

The Golden Eagles fell 2-1 on the road against Geneseo

Peter DiLorenzo scored Brockport's lone goal against Geneseo
Box Score Peter DiLorenzo's (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) second half goal was not enough to keep The College at Brockport men's soccer team undefeated as the Golden Eagles dropped their first loss of the season in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) matchup at Geneseo on Saturday afternoon.

Geneseo opened the scoring early, taking a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute off of a penalty kick.

The Golden Eagles struggled to finish on their opportunities for majority of the game.

Brockport was able to tie things up in the 71st minute. Senior Bobby Ross (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) sent a strong throw-in into the penalty box where DILorenzo was able to head the ball into the right corner of the goal from about six yards out.

With the game looking like it would head into overtime, Geneseo found the game-winner. With less than five minutes remaining, a Geneseo forward was able to slip the ball past goalkeeper Casey Sullivan (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa), who was attempting to get to the ball first.

The Golden Eagles held a slight 11-9 advantage in shots, while both teams took five corner kicks.

Brockport returns to action on the road at 3:00 pm on Friday for a SUNYAC matchup against Oswego.
