Brockport Defeats Potsdam 157-130

Taylor Schaffert had four first place finishes against the Bears.

Erin Luke had three first place finishes for the Golden Eagles

Sophomore Taylor Schaffert (Lockport, NY/Lockport) earned four first place finishes, helping The College at Brockport women's swimming and diving team defeat Potsdam 157-130 on the road Saturday afternoon.

Schaffert, Melanie Melewski (New Baltimore, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk), Rachel Coia (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) and Erin Luke (Latham, NY/Shaker) opened up the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. The foursome recorded a time of 1:52.85.

Schaffert also took first place in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.36), the 100-yard freestyle (55.90) and in the 200-yard freesstyle relay at the end of the night (1:42.56). Melewski, Luke and Holly Jackson made up the rest of the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Melewski also had a strong night, finishing first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.67 and in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:25.75.

Luke also had a first place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.36), while Coia took the top spot in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.13.

Diver, Lydia Allen (Cortland, NY/Cortland) finished first in the 1-meter dive with a score of 211.35.

The Golden Eagles return to action on the road again at 1:00 pm on Saturday at Oswego.
