Women’s Swimming Wins Third-Straight

The Golden Eagles defeated Oswego 173-109 for their third-straight victory

Alanna Blasting finished first in the 200-yard butterfly against Oswego

Melanie Melewski (New Baltimore, NY/Raven-Coeymans-Selkirk), Erin Luke (Latham, NY/Shaker) and Taylor Schaffert (Lockport, NY/Lockport) each earned four first place finishes as The College at Brockport women's swimming and diving team defeated Oswego 173-109 on Saturday afternoon.

Melewski, Luke and Schaffert along with Rachel Coia (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) got things started with a win in the first event of the day. The group finished the 400-yard medley relay with a top time of 4:06.80.

Schaffert went on to earn first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.95. Later in the meet, Schaffert earned first place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:17.41.

Schaffert, Luke, Holly Jackson (West Falls, NY/East Aurora) and Amy Jessmer (Albion, NY/Albion) closed out the night with a first place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay, recording a time of 3:47.97.

Luke earned her third and fourth first place finishes in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle. She finished with times of 25.18 and 57.24, respectively.

Melewski continued to be strong in the breaststroke. She took the top spot in the 100-yard and the 200-yard with time of 1:07.53 and 2:28.66, respectively. Melewski also earned first place in the 200-yard IM, touching the wall in 2:17.73.

Alanna Blasting (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) took home the top finish in the 200 yard butterfly. She swam to first place with a time of 2:26.06. Following close behind with a time of 2:27.93 was Coia.

The Golden Eagles return to action on December 6 for the annual Fredonia Invitational held in Fredonia, NY. Times are still TBA.
