Senior Bobby Ross (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) scored twice in the second half to lead The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team to a 2-0 victory over RIT Friday afternoon in the season opener and the first round of the Doug May Tournament at Nazareth College.

Ross scored early in the second half to open the scoring off a corner kick. Collin Goettel (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) took the corner for Brockport (1-0) with a short pass to Michael Bernard (Rochester, NY/Greece Odessey) who sent the ball into the box. Ross headed the ball in giving the Golden Eagles the lead.

Late in the game, senior Chris O'Gorman (Wading River, NY/Shoreham-Wading River) was fouled in the box and Brockport was awarded a penalty kick. Ross stepped up and nailed the shot for the 2-0 Brockport lead and less than five minutes remaining in the game.

RIT (0-1) held a slim 8-6 advantage in shots but Brockport had six corner kicks while the Tigers did not attempt a single corner in the game.

Sophomore Casey Sullivan (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) made two saves to record the shutout victory in the Brockport goal.

The Golden Eagles will face Nazareth College in the second game of the classic format tournament at 4:30 pm Saturday. RIT will take on Canton in the earlier contest. Nazareth defeated Canton 5-3 to open the tournament earlier Friday.
