Swimming Falls against Oneonta

The men’s and women’s swimming team both recorded losses Saturday

Erin Luke finished first in the 50-yard freestyle against Oneonta

Nik Von Stackelberg (Alfred, NY/Alfred-Almond), Taylor Schaffert (Lockport, NY/Lockport) and Erin Luke(Latham, NY/Shaker) each recorded two first place finishes as The College at Brockport men's and women's swimming and diving teams fell to Oneonta on Saturday afternoon at James B. Fulton Natatorium.

The Brockport men lost 144-89. Von Stackelberg was the first top finish of the day for the Golden Eagles. He recorded a first place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:33.52, over 15 seconds in front of second place. Von Stackelberg also took home first place in the 500-yard freestyle, just beating out second place with a time of 4:57.89.

Moyer also recorded a first place finish in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing in 2:01.46. In the 200-yard freestyle, Moyer came in second place.

In diving, Gabriel Arias (Rochester, NY/Eastridge) finished the day with two second place finishes in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.

The women, who fell 117-106, started off the day with a second place finish in the 400-yard medley relay. Schaffert, Amy Jessmer(Albion, NY/Albion), Rachel Coia(Rochester, NY/Spencerport) and Holly Jackson (West Falls, NY/East Aurora) finished with a time of 4:11.49.

Schaffert and Luke registered one of their first place finishes in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Along with Kaila McClelland (Oswego, NY/Oswego) and Emily Holt (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg), the relay finished in 3:28.59.

Luke's other first place finish came in the 50-yard freestyle as she recorded a time of 1:48.81. She also recorded a second place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.17.

Schaffert continued to be strong in the 200-yard backstroke, earning her second first place finish of the day with a time of 2:13.65, over three seconds faster than second place.

Melanie Melewski (New Baltimore, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) took the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.67. She also recorded a second place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:34.18.

In diving for the women, Lydia Allen (Cortland, NY/Cortland) recorded a first place finish in the 1-meter dive with a score of 216.

The Golden Eagles return to action Saturday as they travel to take on Buffalo State in a 12:00 pm meet.
