Wrestling Cruises to Road Victory over Oswego

Glover records a pin and Ellis, Palmerino and Dyer win major decisions for the Golden Eagles

Paul Glover pinned his opponent in a 36-6 Brockport dual vctory over Oswego

Senior Paul Glover (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) pinned his opponent in 1:34 while juniors Matt Ellis (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) and Daniel Palmerino (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) along with sophomore Jordan Dyer (Chenango Forks, NY/Chenango Forks) all won major decision victories leading The College at Brockport Wrestling team to a convincing 36-6 dual victory over Oswego Wednesday night in Oswego.

Brockport (2-0), ranked #11 in the latest national poll, won the first seven bouts of the match including the three major decisions and led 27-0 before Oswego (2-7) earned its only six points of the night with a pin at 184 pounds. Brockport finished off the victory with nine points on a pin at 197 pounds combined with a an 8-1 decision at heavyweight.

Ellis recorded a 16-4 major decision at 125 pounds to start the competition before James McCabe (Ronkonkoma, NY/Connetquot) won a 4-0 decision at 133 pounds to give Brockport a 7-0 lead. Palmerino followed with a 17-7 major decision at 141 pounds and Dyer made it a 15-0 Brockport lead with his 12-1 major decision at 149 pounds.

Lewis Cucchiara (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) earned a forfeit victory at 157 pounds. Freshman Roy Daniels (Spencerport, NY/Olentangy (OH)) won a 9-4 decision at 165 pounds and fellow freshman James Schreck (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY/Sachem North) recorded a 6-2 decision for the early 27-0 Brockport lead.

After Oswego's pin at 184 pounds, Glover responded by downing his opponent within the first two minutes of the bout and heavyweight Cole Tristram (Newton Falls, NY/Clifton-Fine) posted an 8-1 decision to cap the 36-6 Brockport win.
